I recently wrote my first post about learning to cook by experimentation.
That journey continues…
The very next day, I went to the farmers’ market, and there was a fairly limited selection.
Got some yummy fruit: watermelon (which I may add has been my favourite food since pregnant, and one of my all time favs).
And, I got some okra.
Have you ever had okra?
Tell me about your okra experience in the comments, if you will.
My Mom made fried okra when I was growing up. I LOVED it.
I saw it at the farmers’ market, and thought about it, circling the booths a few times….
Then I thought,
I can do it!
So, I bought some.
For dinner, we ate:
Fried okra
Cut off the ends, slice okra, roll in whole wheat flour.
Place olive oil on low-med on the stove.
Put okra in to cook when (upon testing one) the okra simmers in the oil.
Cook until crunchy to your liking.
Broccoli (added unrefined sea salt as desired)
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (on whole wheat bread)
Baked Potato (wrapped with olive oil & salt, buttered & salted to taste after)
Mmmm. Mmm. SO good!
My mom always makes okra with tomatoes on top of rice. It is my favorite to this day.

My Mom used corn meal, I think. Or regular flour, probably.
I just bought my first bag of flour. Ever. it was whole wheat. So that’s what I used!
Love me some fried okra!
